Jing Qu Arrested in Bangkok for Flight Attendant Fraud

A 30-year-old Chinese woman, Jing Qu, has been apprehended in Bangkok after evading arrest in China by undergoing facelift surgery. Authorities received a tip-off that led to her arrest at an apartment on Monday.

Jing is accused of defrauding six fellow Chinese nationals by charging them for flight attendant positions with well-known airlines, amassing approximately 7.5 million baht in the process. It is alleged that she used a portion of the funds to finance her facelift surgery in Thailand in 2022, intending to escape warrants issued against her in China.

After locating her residence, a police officer disguised as a food delivery rider successfully arrested her. Jing entered Thailand on a TR-15 visa, which permitted a stay of 15 days; however, she had overstayed for at least 650 days.

Claiming to have been laid off from her flight attendant position, Jing has denied the allegations. She is expected to be extradited back to China.
