In a significant crackdown, the Jind police have arrested two individuals involved in a high-profile extortion case. The accused, Ravi alias Dhilu and Ankush, both residents of Budha Khera Lather, were apprehended by the CIA staff of Jind police.
The duo had reportedly demanded a ransom of Rs5 crore from Bajrang, a medical store owner in Julana, threatening harm if the amount was not paid. Following the complaint, a case was registered, and a manhunt was initiated. The police traced the accused and apprehended them near the Gattoli canal, where they were attempting to escape on a motorcycle. In a failed escape attempt, they lost control and fell, injuring one of them.
During their interrogation, Ravi and Ankush admitted to planning the extortion and even setting fire to the store using petrol from a nearby pump in Hathwala village. A diary containing detailed plans to extort Rs5 crore from the victim was recovered from them.
The duo was presented in court and remanded to police custody. Jind’s Deputy Superintendent of Police, Joginder Singh, affirmed that the arrest sends a strong message to criminals and assured the public that such illegal activities will not be tolerated in the future. The investigation is ongoing to uncover the full extent of their conspiracy.
