Jimmie Ray Fields Sentenced to 40 Years for Child Exploitation

JACKSON, MS – Attorney General Lynn Fitch announced the sentencing of Jimmie Ray Fields from Lucedale, Mississippi, on 25 counts of child exploitation. This case was investigated by the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office with help from the Lucedale Police Department and prosecuted by both the Attorney General’s Office and the George County District Attorney’s Office.

“This office is proud to partner with law enforcement and prosecutors from around the State to protect Mississippi’s children from predators,” said Attorney General Lynn Fitch. “Together, we are making Mississippi a safer place for everyone. If you suspect a child is being exploited or abused, please report it to my office. Your tip could save a life.”

On October 2, Judge Calvin Taylor of the George County Circuit Court sentenced Fields to 40 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC). Each of the 25 counts related to his possession of child sexual abuse material carries a 40-year sentence, but all counts will run concurrently. Fields must serve his sentence day-for-day without the possibility of parole and will be required to register as a sex offender upon release.

If you have information about a child being sexually exploited online, please report it at 1-800-843-5678 or online at www.cybertipline.org. The hotline, staffed by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) 24/7, ensures that tips are reported to the Attorney General’s Office, which oversees the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force for Mississippi.
