Jensey Herrera-Acosta Arrested in Nationwide Theft Scheme

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Authorities have arrested Jensey Herrera-Acosta, a suspect linked to a nationwide retail theft ring, after an investigation into a November 2023 theft at a Burlington store in Abilene.

Herrera-Acosta was booked into the Taylor County Jail on Friday, facing charges of Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity, Fugitive from Justice, and Immigration violations.

According to court documents, Herrera-Acosta and Yunior Yanes-Baragano, along with an unidentified third suspect, are accused of stealing over $1,000 worth of merchandise from the department store. Surveillance footage reportedly shows the suspects entering separately before working together to conceal items, remove security sensors, and place stolen goods into a black laundry hamper.

After the theft, Herrera-Acosta allegedly acted as a lookout in the parking lot while Yanes-Baragano exited the store.

Investigators believe the suspects are part of a larger organized crime group responsible for similar thefts along the I-20 corridor, stretching from Texas to Florida. Reports also link them to Ulta Beauty store thefts across Pennsylvania and Connecticut.

There is no record of Yanes-Baragano’s arrest at this time, and authorities continue their investigation into the broader theft ring.
