“Jeffrey Bailey Faces Seven Felony Charges in Brownsburg Theft and Battery Case”

BROWNSBURG, Ind. — Jeffrey Bailey, 35, is facing multiple felony charges, including battery against a public safety officer, following his involvement in a series of thefts and a subsequent struggle with law enforcement in Brownsburg. Court documents reveal Bailey is charged with:

Unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felony (level 4 felony)
Battery with bodily injury to a public safety officer (level 5 felony)
Theft (level 5 felony)
Two counts of resisting law enforcement (level 6 felony)
Resisting law enforcement (Class A misdemeanor)
Unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle (Class B misdemeanor)
The investigation into Bailey began on January 5, 2025, after a suspicious individual, later identified as Bailey, was reported walking between homes near Eaker Court. The caller informed officers that Bailey appeared to be looking over his shoulder as if he was being followed.

Upon further investigation, law enforcement determined Bailey was connected to a stolen vehicle recovered nearby. Officers responded to additional reports of Bailey attempting to break into a residence and vehicles in the area. Multiple callers provided videos of the suspect, which helped confirm Bailey’s involvement in the thefts.

After a brief foot chase and physical altercation with officers, Bailey was subdued and arrested. During the struggle, one officer sustained injuries, including swelling and bruising. Police also recovered stolen items, including a Ruger 38 pistol, and noted additional burglary attempts, including a motorcycle theft.

Bailey, who has been charged with multiple felonies, will appear for an initial hearing on January 10, 2025, at noon in Hendricks Circuit Court.
