Oxford, MS — Jeffery Wilkins, 42, of Oxford, was arrested after deputies with the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office investigated a theft complaint in September on CR 145. The victim, a male relative, suspected that Wilkins had been stealing from him and reported the incident to authorities.
Investigators determined that Wilkins had been making multiple fraudulent transactions using the victim’s bank account and transferring funds to his Cash App account. The total amount stolen exceeded $500.
As a result, Wilkins was charged with felony false pretense over $500 and exploitation of a vulnerable adult. He was arrested and taken into custody without incident. His bond was set at $25,000.
This case underscores the growing concern about financial exploitation, particularly involving vulnerable adults. Wilkins remains in custody at the Lafayette County Detention Center (LCDC) while awaiting further proceedings.
