A gang member from West Jordan appeared in court after being accused of attempting to murder a man on Christmas Day. Javier Pedregon-Magana, 24, was indicted on February 12, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
On December 25, 2024, Pedregon-Magana allegedly carried out a “premeditated attack” on an unsuspecting and defenseless victim, court documents revealed. He is accused of stabbing the victim seven times, stealing their car, and attempting to run the victim over as they fled on foot.
The victim required urgent medical attention to stop the severe bleeding, according to the Department of Justice.
As a member of a criminal street gang, the attack was reportedly driven by Pedregon-Magana’s desire to improve his standing within the gang, authorities said. The case highlights the violent influence of gang culture on criminal actions.
