The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has arrested Jaskaran Singh Brar, a Naib Tehsildar, who surrendered in Mohali as a co-accused in the multi-crore guava compensation scam.
According to an official spokesperson from the VB, Brar was implicated after investigations revealed his collusion with the main accused in the unlawful disbursement of compensation to unauthorized beneficiaries. It was discovered that the names and shares of some landowners listed for compensation did not align with revenue records. Additionally, several names were added to the beneficiary list without any valid basis, particularly those who had acquired land after the issuance of notification under Section 11 of the Land Acquisition Act.
The arrest marks a significant step in the ongoing investigation into the fraudulent compensation scheme, aimed at ensuring accountability and justice.
