Jamshedpur Police Arrest 3 in Rs25 Lakh Drug Racket Bust

Jamshedpur police have arrested three individuals, including two medical store owners, for running a drug racket, and seized intoxicants worth Rs25 lakh. The operation, led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishore Kaushal, comes amid rising crime rates linked to drug abuse in the city.

The suspects, identified as Umesh and Rajkumar Gupta (brothers and medical store owners) and their associate Sonu Pandey, were arrested after they failed to provide proper purchase documentation for the drugs. The police had received intelligence about the racket sourcing narcotics from Calcutta, leading to a targeted raid at Maa Vaibhav Medical Stores, which yielded significant quantities of illegal substances.

Further searches at multiple locations, including a residence and an auto parts godown, uncovered additional drugs. The police quickly formed a special task force to investigate the connection between drug abuse and rising criminal activities in the region. The task force is investigating the network’s operations and is determined to identify other key players involved in the drug trade.

SSP Kaushal assured the public that these arrests were just the beginning of an ongoing crackdown. The accused have been sent to Ghaghidih jail, and further anti-drug operations are planned to disrupt the narcotics trade in the area. “We will continue our efforts to curb the drug menace and bring all those involved to justice,” said SSP Kaushal.
