Jammu and Kashmir Police have successfully dismantled an inter-state drug trafficking racket with the arrest of three individuals in Anantnag district. The arrested suspects, identified as Monty Singh from Bulandshahar (Uttar Pradesh), Ashish Bardawaj, and Rahul from Chhatarpur (New Delhi), were found with 413 bottles of Codeine Phosphate (branded as Codril-T) hidden within the car’s door panels.
The drugs, intended for delivery in Sopore and Srinagar, were intercepted at a checkpoint in Doonipora Sangam after credible intelligence tipped off the police. The authorities established multiple checkpoints along the Delhi to Srinagar route, leading to the successful interception of the vehicle carrying the contraband.
Further investigations revealed links to an even larger network, prompting raids at various locations. A local smuggler from Sopore was detained for questioning, and a significant operation by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Noida uncovered more Codeine in a warehouse.
The key operatives behind the drug trafficking syndicate, Sachin Rana and Arun Rana from Faridabad, remain at large, with efforts to capture them underway. The seizure of this significant drug haul underscores the police’s ongoing commitment to dismantling narcotics networks operating in the region.
