James Marquette Arrested for Predatory Sexual Assault of a Child

Watertown, N.Y. — James William Marquette Jr., 46, of Watertown, was arrested on March 20, 2025, on a felony charge of predatory sexual assault of a child. The charge stems from a 2020 incident.

On March 14, 2025, a complaint was filed with the Watertown Police Department, alleging that Marquette had sexual contact with a 5-year-old girl on multiple occasions.

The investigation was carried out by the Watertown Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division, with support from the Child Advocacy Center of Northern New York and Jefferson County Child Protective Services. The allegations were corroborated, leading to Marquette’s arrest.

He was arraigned in Jefferson County CAP Court and is being held without bail at the Jefferson County Correctional Facility.
