St. Mary’s County, MD – On February 6, 2025, James Allen Chase, 65, of Lexington Park, Maryland, was arrested after an extensive drug trafficking investigation. Authorities, including the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Vice Narcotics Unit, executed search warrants on Chase’s vehicle and residence, uncovering significant quantities of illegal substances and a weapon.
Detectives had been tracking Chase as the primary suspect in an ongoing investigation into drug-related activities. Early on the morning of February 6, investigators observed him leaving his home and driving a black Jeep Grand Cherokee. Deputies conducted a traffic stop later that evening on Great Mills Road at around 6:35 PM, which led to the discovery of more than ten bags of suspected cocaine, $400 in cash, and drug paraphernalia within the vehicle.
Simultaneously, investigators executed a search warrant at Chase’s residence on Kent Drive in Lexington Park. Inside the home, they found approximately 100 grams of cocaine, multiple cell phones, drug packaging materials, and over $100,000 in cash, believed to be proceeds from drug sales. In addition, authorities seized a loaded 12-gauge shotgun found in Chase’s bedroom, positioned close to the drug and cash stash.
After being read his Miranda rights, Chase admitted to owning the drugs, cash, and the firearm, acknowledging that much of the money came from selling illegal drugs over the past few years.
As a result of the search and investigation, Chase was charged with several offenses, including possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), possession of a firearm during a drug trafficking crime, and possession of proceeds from a CDS offense. He was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown.
This arrest follows ongoing efforts by the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office to dismantle drug trafficking networks and combat illegal narcotics in the area.
