Jamalpur Police Book Three Travel Agents for Duping Hoshiarpur Residents

The Jamalpur police have registered a case against three travel agents for allegedly duping two residents from Hoshiarpur out of Rs75,000 under the pretext of arranging work visas for Kuwait.

The case was filed following a complaint by Mandeep Singh, 32, a resident of Sainpur Bhagowal, Hoshiarpur. According to the complaint, Mandeep and his acquaintance Jagtar Singh, from Haryana village in Hoshiarpur, had approached the accused—Kamalpreet Singh, Bhupinder Singh, and Aman Grewal, all from Bhamian Khurd—who were based in Ludhiana and offered work opportunities in Kuwait.

The travel agents reportedly took Rs35,000 from Mandeep and ₹40,000 from Jagtar, promising to arrange their visas within a couple of months. However, the agents failed to provide the visas and refused to return the money when the victims demanded a refund.

Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sahib Singh, the investigating officer, confirmed that the case has been filed under sections 316 (2) (criminal breach of trust), 318 (4) (cheating), and 61 (2) (criminal conspiracy) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), as well as section 24 of the Immigration Act. A search is underway to arrest the accused individuals involved in the fraud.
