Jalandhar Police Breaks Motorcycle Theft Gang, Arrests Two Members

In a significant breakthrough against organized vehicle theft, Jalandhar Rural Police have successfully dismantled an inter-district motorcycle theft gang. Two members of the gang were arrested, and six stolen motorcycles, including high-end models like Yamaha R-15 and Bajaj Pulsar, were recovered.

The arrested individuals, identified as Sandeep Singh alias Soni and Tarjinder Singh alias Kaka, were caught following a complaint lodged by Surjit Singh, a resident of Raipur Araian, regarding the theft of his black Splendor Plus motorcycle on January 7, 2025.

Acting on the FIR registered at Police Station Mehtpur, the police team, led by DSP Shahkot Onkar Singh Brar and Inspector Sukhdev Singh, began a detailed investigation. During questioning, the accused admitted to their involvement in several motorcycle thefts across multiple districts. The stolen motorcycles were targeted from unattended locations, and their identification features were altered before being sold in different areas.

Both accused have a criminal background and have been involved in similar cases in the past. Authorities are currently working to apprehend Buta Singh, a third accomplice, who is still on the run.

The successful arrests and recovery of the stolen motorcycles have disrupted the gang’s operations, providing relief to vehicle owners across districts. SSP Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh emphasized that Jalandhar Rural Police is committed to tackling organized crime and ensuring public safety.

The investigation is ongoing to trace additional stolen vehicles and uncover other members of the gang. The arrested individuals will be produced in court, with further measures being taken to prevent such crimes in the future.
