The Jalandhar (Rural) police have arrested two members of a robbers gang and recovered stolen items, including mobile phones and cash. The accused, identified as Rahul and Lovepreet Singh, allegedly committed thefts to fund their drug addiction.
Acting on specific inputs, a special team from Phillaur police station, led by SHO Sanjeev Kapoor and supervised by DSP Sarwan Singh Bal, arrested the two men. Rahul is a resident of Uchi Ghati, Phillaur, while Lovepreet is from Bulle village in Ferozepur district. During the search, police recovered two stolen mobile phones, an iron file used in crimes, and Rs900 in cash from their possession.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh stated that both accused are drug addicts and have been involved in multiple robbery cases in the past. They admitted to committing thefts and robberies to support their drug habits.
A case has been registered against the accused at Phillaur police station. They will be produced in court, and police remand will be sought for further investigation. The police are also probing if the accused are involved in other criminal cases reported in the region.
