Jajpur Police Bust Major Job Racket, Arrest Two Fraudsters

On Tuesday, Jajpur district police uncovered a significant job scam, leading to the arrest of two individuals accused of defrauding job seekers. Chabindra Pradhan (31) from Lunibara village and Himanshu Das (53) from Jagannath Sahi were taken into custody after a complaint was lodged by Kanhu Pradhan from Baramana village. According to the complaint, the accused took Rs 50,000 from him four months ago, promising employment in a private company.

Investigations so far suggest that the duo has deceived numerous youths in the Nihalaprasad, Jaraka, and Jenapur areas, amassing over Rs 5 lakh through their fraudulent activities. Nirupama Jena, the IIC of Jenapur police station, confirmed that the accused used forged documents and false promises to lure victims into their scam. Police suspect other individuals may be involved in the racket, and investigations are ongoing.

Both Chabindra Pradhan and Himanshu Das have been charged under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for cheating, forgery, and fraudulent use of documents. After their arrest, they were presented before the Chandikhol court, where their bail requests were denied, and they were sent to judicial custody.
