Jajj Singh, Inter-State Drug Smuggler Arrested in Nurpur

The Nurpur district police made a significant breakthrough in their battle against drug smuggling with the arrest of Jajj Singh, an inter-state drug smuggler from Amritsar. The arrest comes after a thorough four-month investigation into a case registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act on October 16, 2024.

Jajj Singh, a habitual drug peddler, was arrested from his residence in Avdal, located under the Majitha police station in Amritsar. Singh had been involved in supplying narcotics to peddlers in Fatehpur subdivision, a key area in the drug distribution network.

The case began on October 16 last year when a police team intercepted a car at a checkpoint at Kandwal. During the search, police seized 109.52 grams of heroin from Ravi Kumar and his wife Shilpa, residents of Jhajwan in Fatehpur subdivision. The subsequent investigation revealed that the couple was part of a larger inter-state drug smuggling operation.

SP Ashok Ratan of Nurpur confirmed that the arrest of Singh has helped dismantle a significant part of the drug racket, and investigations continue to identify other individuals involved in the smuggling operations.

The police continue to crack down on inter-state narcotics networks, reinforcing their commitment to eliminating drug trafficking in the region.
