HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) – Jade Summers, a 42-year-old woman from Kearney, Nebraska, was sentenced on January 10 in federal court for the distribution of 5 grams or more of methamphetamine. U.S. District Judge Susan M. Bazis imposed a lengthy prison sentence on Summers, with no possibility of parole in the federal system. Upon her release, Summers will serve a three-year term of supervised release.
The case stems from a controlled purchase that took place on April 4, 2023. Law enforcement arranged for a Confidential Informant (CI) to buy meth from Summers. She agreed to sell a quarter-pound of methamphetamine. The CI, provided with $1,600 and recording equipment, met Summers in Grand Island for the transaction. The meth was packaged into three separate bags. Laboratory analysis confirmed the meth weighed over 100 grams, with one bag containing 55 grams of pure methamphetamine.
This investigation was part of the work of the Tri-City Drug Enforcement Team (TRIDENT), a collaborative task force involving local and federal agencies, including the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office, Grand Island Police Department, Hall County Sheriff’s Office, Hastings Police Department, Kearney Police Department, the Nebraska State Patrol, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
