A 25-year-old man from Aberdeen, Jacques McGregor, is being held at the Moore County Detention Center under no bond after allegedly strangling a woman at a local hotel. McGregor is facing felony charges of assault by strangulation and misdemeanor domestic violence following an incident at the AmeriVu Inn & Suites on Sandhills Blvd. on Wednesday.
According to Aberdeen Police Chief Brian Chavis, the victim identified McGregor as her attacker and reported that he physically assaulted and strangled her, leaving visible bruising on her body. The police issued warrants for McGregor’s arrest shortly after the incident.
McGregor was located at the hotel the following day, Thursday, and taken into custody based on the warrants. In addition to the charges related to the assault, McGregor was also wanted on warrants from the Moore County Sheriff’s Department, Pinebluff Police Department, and Moore County Probation.
Further investigation revealed McGregor is facing additional charges, including possession of a stolen firearm and carrying a concealed gun, related to an offense that occurred on February 20. The charges stem from an investigation by the Pinebluff Police Department. Additionally, McGregor is facing charges for violating probation from Moore County Probation.
McGregor is currently being held without bond and will be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Police continue to investigate the details surrounding the assault and other related charges.
