Jackie Lynch Charged in Multiple Fake Slip-and-Fall Claims

WILSON, NC — A 61-year-old Wilson woman, Jackie Kay Lynch, has been charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense after allegedly filing a fraudulent injury claim.

According to the North Carolina Department of Insurance, Lynch reported a slip-and-fall injury that supposedly occurred on August 5 at a grocery store and submitted the claim to Utica National Insurance.

However, investigators say Lynch made the same slip-and-fall claim at eight different Piggly Wiggly locations, seeking damages each time. The value of her most recent claim was $1,000.

The case was investigated by special agents from the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division. Lynch was detained at the Wilson County Detention Center and made her court appearance on March 12.

The Department reminds residents that insurance fraud impacts policyholders through higher premiums and emphasizes ongoing efforts to prosecute fraudulent activity across the state.
