Ismail Hamlin Arrested in Harrisburg for Fentanyl and Illegal Weapons Seizure

HARRISBURG, PA — Ismail A. Hamlin, a 28-year-old man from Clairton, Pennsylvania, has been arrested after authorities uncovered firearms and a significant amount of fentanyl at his residence. The arrest was reported by Attorney General Dave Sunday, who confirmed that Hamlin now faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges.

The arrest followed the execution of a search warrant at Hamlin’s home last week. Investigators seized 478 bricks of fentanyl, which is equivalent to nearly 24,000 doses. Authorities also discovered firearms, including a “ghost gun” and a Glock switch, which can convert a handgun into a fully automatic weapon. Additional items seized included 92 grams of crack cocaine, $19,677 in cash, and a large quantity of ammunition.

The operation was a joint effort between the Attorney General’s Bureau of Narcotics Investigations, the Westmoreland County Drug Task Force, and the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Narcotics Enforcement Team. Attorney General Sunday commended the collaborative work of these agencies, emphasizing the importance of removing harmful substances and dangerous weapons from communities.

Hamlin, who has a history of drug trafficking and illegal firearm possession, is prohibited from owning firearms due to his previous convictions. He was denied bail during his arraignment due to concerns about public safety.

Authorities also reported that a young child was present at the home during the raid and is now in the care of social services. Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole W. Ziccarelli expressed hope that this bust would disrupt local drug trafficking networks and improve community safety.

Criminal charges against Hamlin are still allegations, and prosecutors remind the public that he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
