AURORA, Colo. — Two 19-year-old men have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a 23-year-old Aurora resident, Yousef Jamal Elnaffar, near a mosque in Aurora.
The shooting occurred around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday near Crescent View Academy, which houses a mosque at its location on East Bethany Drive. When officers arrived, they found Elnaffar suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.
Arrests & Charges
After an investigation, police arrested:
Isaac Delacruz – Charged with first-degree murder as the suspected shooter.
Kevin Hernandez-Gonzalez – Charged with second-degree murder, believed to have been the driver and accomplice.
Possible Motive & Additional Crimes
Authorities believe Elnaffar had attended evening prayers at the mosque before leaving to meet someone for an online marketplace transaction. During this exchange, he was shot and killed.
Additionally, investigators suspect that Delacruz and Hernandez-Gonzalez may be connected to other robberies in the area.
The case remains under investigation, and police urge anyone with information to come forward.
