Inmate Jebea Johnson Accused of Orchestrating Murder from Jail

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — A 22-year-old inmate at the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility in Bunnell is facing charges after allegedly orchestrating a gang-related murder from behind bars.

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) reported that detectives were alerted on November 15 to suspicious phone calls made by Jebea Johnson, an inmate from Palm Coast, to his family. During the calls, Johnson is said to have discussed gang-related activities and instructed a relative to use social media to arrange a murder of a victim who sought to leave the gang.

FCSO investigators listened to the calls and discovered that Johnson used specific gang terminology while allegedly ordering the hit. Additional interviews revealed that Johnson had previously tried to recruit the victim into the Kutt Throat Committee, a prison and street gang, while both men were incarcerated.

Some individuals who were interviewed confirmed sending messages on Johnson’s behalf but said they did not fully understand the coded language used in the instructions.

Johnson has been in custody since June, after turning himself in on charges including attempted robbery with a firearm, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, burglary, aggravated battery, and aggravated assault. He has been held without bond since his previous arrest for attempted robbery and other violent offenses on June 21.
