Inamul Hussain 10 Others Held in Assam Vehicle Theft Racket

In a major breakthrough, Assam Police have busted an interstate vehicle theft gang, arresting 11 individuals involved in a high-profile racket. The gang, mainly from Manipur, was known for their swift operations—stealing high-end motorcycles and cars in under a minute.

According to reports, the gang could snatch a motorcycle in just 45 seconds. During the raid, police recovered 13 stolen motorcycles, including 12 Royal Enfields, and three stolen cars—two Mahindra Thar SUVs and a Mahindra Scorpio.

A key breakthrough came with the arrest of Inamul Hussain from Goalpara, who allegedly coordinated the transfer of stolen bikes to Manipur. Two more individuals involved in the transport operations were also nabbed, severely disrupting the gang’s logistics.

The gang’s modus operandi involved flying into Guwahati, staying temporarily for 4–5 days, and carrying out thefts with military-like precision. The stolen bikes were then sent to Manipur using commercial buses. Police also identified a young woman as part of the network, underlining the syndicate’s diverse and organized setup.

In a separate but related operation earlier this week, Nagaon Police cracked down on a local bike-theft racket. They recovered three stolen bikes and arrested four suspects:

Hobibur Rahman (Kenduguri, Nagaon)

Suleman Ali (Hujgaon)

Narjul Islam and Makshidul Islam (Chatian)

Police are continuing their efforts to track down the remaining gang members and dismantle the larger interstate vehicle theft network. This series of arrests marks a major success in Assam’s fight against organized vehicle crime.
