Imo State Police Arrests Multiple Suspects in Crime Crackdown

The Nigeria Police Force has achieved significant successes in Imo State with a series of arrests linked to serious criminal activities such as kidnapping and armed robbery.

In a press statement released on Wednesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Imo State Police Command highlighted recent operational achievements. Among these was the apprehension of five individuals involved in kidnapping activities in the Obinze, Avu, and Ihiagwa areas.

The suspects, identified as Umaru Usman (40) from Mauree, Sokoto State; Tukur Yau (25) from Dawakinkudur, Kano State; Musbau Sabo (18) from Warsaw LGA, Kano State; Abdul Ibrahim (30) from Sokoto State; and Jubrin Idris (35) from Sokoto State, were arrested on August 21, 2024, in Avu. The police successfully rescued a victim who had been abducted by this group.

Additionally, the police apprehended 25-year-old Nwauba Alex from Ezza LGA, Ebonyi State, during an armed robbery attempt near Aladinma Primary School in Owerri. Authorities recovered a locally made pistol, two rounds of live ammunition, and torchlights from him.

These operations are part of the Nigeria Police Force’s broader strategy to combat crime across the nation. Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, reaffirmed the force’s commitment to maintaining security through both proactive and reactive measures aimed at preventing criminal activities.

The Nigeria Police Force urges citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement to ensure the safety and security of all Nigerians.
