Ian Hall Sentenced to 32 Months for Multiple Burglaries

Ian Hall, also known by the nickname ‘Chicken,’ has been sentenced to 32 months in prison after admitting to a series of theft and burglary offenses. The 37-year-old targeted a bike shop in the Saint Mark’s area of Byker on April 22 last year, stealing a £6,000 bike. Police investigations revealed his DNA on a bike left behind at the scene.

Hall returned to the same shop on May 1, attempting to break in again using a crowbar, but was unsuccessful. Further investigation revealed Hall’s involvement in several other crimes, including stealing lead from the roof of a listed building in Wallsend and cables from an engineering company in North Tyneside.

Hall, from Fossway in Walker, pleaded guilty to multiple burglary charges, attempted burglary, and theft. At Newcastle Crown Court on January 7, Hall was sentenced to 32 months in prison.

Inspector Craig Patchett of Northumbria Police praised the conviction, stating that Hall had been a major nuisance in the community. He urged local residents to ensure their vehicles and properties are securely locked to prevent future thefts.
