Hyderabad EOW Arrests Chaitanya University Officials in ₹2 Crore Scam

In a major breakthrough, the Hyderabad Economic Offences Wing (EOW) arrested three individuals, including a senior official, for allegedly embezzling up to Rs2 crore through a fraudulent manipulation of the student admission process at Chaitanya Deemed to be University in Himayatnagar, Rangareddy district.

The accused have been identified as Sanikommu Suma, the dean in charge of admissions at the university, and her two associates, Bhuthapati Dinaker and Burra Srikanth, both of Hanamkonda. They are accused of creating fake records and fabricating agent names to misappropriate funds.

The scam was uncovered after a complaint was filed by Dr. Chintalapani Venkata Purshottam Reddy, the founder of Chaitanya University. According to EOW officials, many students were diverted to the university through agents who were paid commissions. The accused falsely recorded direct student admissions as agent-assisted and fabricated payment vouchers with agent names to divert the funds for their personal gain.

The total amount siphoned off by the accused is estimated to be between Rs1 crore and Rs2 crore. The EOW has initiated further investigations to uncover the full extent of the scam and to identify any additional individuals involved.
