Howrah Police Arrest Four for Rs 15 Lakh Factory Heist

Howrah Police have arrested four individuals involved in a daring robbery at a metal factory in the city’s Domju area, where goods worth Rs 15 lakh were stolen. The crime took place on the night of July 27 when a gang of 10 to 12 individuals broke into the Gavrill Metals warehouse, overpowering the lone security guard on duty and making off with approximately 4 tons of zinc bars and other valuables.

The assailants arrived at the factory in a Tata ACE vehicle and a motorcycle, tied up and assaulted the security guard, and broke open the warehouse lock. They then loaded the stolen goods into their vehicles before fleeing the scene.

The police initiated a prompt investigation, analyzing CCTV footage from nearby locations to track down the suspect’s vehicle. This led to the identification of Abinash Singh, the vehicle’s owner, and Subrata Sen, also known as Chhotka, who was the first to be arrested. During the interrogation, Sen and his accomplice Bishal Jaiswal admitted to the crime and revealed the involvement of several others.

Bishal Sahu, who had received the stolen goods, was also arrested, and the police were able to recover the entire stolen merchandise from a godown in Ghora within 12 hours of the robbery.
