Fresno, Calif. — Horacio Torrecillas Urias Jr., 24, from Fresno, has been sentenced to 23 years and one month in federal prison after being convicted of distributing fentanyl and conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl.
The sentencing follows an investigation into fentanyl-related overdoses in the Fresno area. Authorities discovered multiple overdose cases linked to counterfeit oxycodone M30 tablets containing fentanyl, often referred to as “M30s.” The investigation, known as Operation Killer High, uncovered a widespread drug-trafficking operation led by Urias, who called himself the “M30 king of Fresno.”
Urias was sourcing tens of thousands of counterfeit fentanyl pills, as well as large amounts of fentanyl powder, methamphetamine, and cocaine, directly from Mexico. The operation revealed that Urias and his co-defendants were distributing these dangerous substances throughout California and beyond.
Law enforcement seized over 55,000 fentanyl pills, six pounds of fentanyl powder, 10 pounds of methamphetamine, a pound of cocaine, 25 firearms, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition during the investigation. The case is part of the Operation Synthetic Opioid Surge (S.O.S.), aimed at reducing synthetic opioid supply and targeting international and domestic drug trafficking networks.
Urias now faces over two decades in federal prison, highlighting the significant threat posed by fentanyl and methamphetamine trafficking in the region.
