Hirabhai Jotva Arrested in Rs7.3 Cr MGNREGA Scam Case

In a significant development following the arrest of BJP minister Bachubhai Khabad’s sons, Gujarat police on Friday apprehended state Congress vice-president and OBC leader Hirabhai Jotva, along with his son Digvijay Jotva, a local sarpanch. The arrests are linked to an alleged Rs7.3 crore scam under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).

Jotva, 58, hails from Supasi village in the Gir Somnath district and is regarded as a key figure within the Congress party in Saurashtra. Known for his grassroots connection, Jotva is not just a politician but also a farmer with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Saurashtra University. His ventures span multiple sectors, including transportation, animal husbandry, fuel retail, and construction.

These arrests mark a notable escalation in the state’s ongoing crackdown on alleged corruption involving both major political parties.
