himereze Chinedu Arrested for Defrauding Thai National

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 28-year-old Chimereze Chinedu for allegedly defrauding a Thai national of $216,000 and N30 million.

According to Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin, Chinedu promised to supply the victim with 37 tricycles valued at $216,000. To further his scheme, he forged letters from the State Criminal Investigation Department, falsely claiming that the tricycles had been seized by police.

Chinedu then extorted an additional N30 million from the victim under the pretense of securing the release of the seized tricycles. Following a thorough investigation and collaboration with officials from the International Criminal Police Organisation, he was apprehended on May 10, 2024, in Enugu State.

The police are currently working to identify and apprehend any accomplices involved in the fraudulent scheme. In related news, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission recently arrested 15 suspected internet fraudsters in Zaria, Kaduna State, following credible intelligence linking them to fraudulent activities.
