Hector Velazquez Maldonado Arrested for Shoplifting at Walmart

Chesterfield County, VA (WTVR) – A man was arrested for shoplifting at Walmart in Chesterfield during a “Shop with a Cop” event on Sunday.

The event, which pairs local officers with families to assist them in purchasing holiday gifts, saw over 50 uniformed officers present at the store. As the event unfolded, a Walmart employee informed officers of a shoplifter in progress.

Police quickly identified the suspect as 32-year-old Hector Velazquez Maldonado, who attempted to flee through the back of the store but was apprehended by officers.

It was discovered that Maldonado had an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court for a previous shoplifting case. Additionally, he has several open larceny cases in Chesterfield.

Maldonado faces charges of felony grand larceny in connection with the stolen items, valued at nearly $1,400.
