HDFC Bank’s Udaipur Branch Assistant Manager Arrested in Embezzlement Scam

In a significant development, Abhishek Sarkar, the assistant manager of HDFC Bank’s Udaipur branch, was arrested in connection with an alleged customer fund embezzlement case. The arrest follows mounting pressure from media coverage and customer protests highlighting irregularities within the bank.

The case first emerged when several customers from the Udaipur branch lodged complaints about unauthorized withdrawals and missing funds from their accounts. An internal audit conducted by HDFC Bank revealed discrepancies in account statements, raising suspicions of internal malpractice. Frustrated by the lack of immediate action, customers took to the streets, protesting for justice and transparency.

As the protests gained momentum, local media outlets intensified their reporting, urging authorities to intervene. Following a comprehensive investigation, law enforcement officials traced the financial irregularities to Abhishek Sarkar, who allegedly diverted customer deposits for personal gain.

Sarkar was detained from the Amtali area and taken to R.K. Pur police station for further questioning. Investigators suggest that Sarkar may not have acted alone, and further arrests could be made as the probe continues.

The case has raised serious concerns about trust in the financial institution, with many questioning the safety of their deposits. Authorities are now focusing on the scope of the embezzlement and whether other bank officials were involved.

Both local residents and affected customers have called for strict action and full transparency in the investigation. As of now, HDFC Bank has refrained from issuing an official statement regarding the arrest.

Law enforcement agencies have pledged to conduct a thorough inquiry into the case, and further developments are expected in the coming days. This case underscores the growing vigilance against financial fraud and highlights the critical role of investigative journalism in bringing such issues to light.
