Hashim Dagane Muhumed, also known as Hashim Mohamed Khalif, was arraigned before the High Court in Milimani on December 24, 2024, in connection with the gruesome murders of four women allegedly abducted from Eastleigh.
The prosecution requested that the plea be deferred, seeking a psychiatric assessment of the suspect before proceeding. Lady Justice Diana Rachel Kavedza granted the request, ordering that Muhumed undergo the assessment. The court directed that the psychiatric report be presented by January 21, 2024, when Muhumed is expected to formally enter his plea.
Muhumed is accused of killing Dahabo Daud Said (alias Waris), Amina Abdirashid Dhahir, Musayba Abdi Mohamed, and Deka Abdi Noor Gorane between October 21 and October 30, 2024, across multiple locations in Kenya, including the Kyumbi area of Machakos County and the Parklands and Lavington areas in Nairobi County.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Muhumed was found in possession of several fraudulent documents, including a fake Kenyan ID. Investigations revealed that he had previously served as a police officer in Ethiopia, where he was jailed on murder charges. After his release, he fled to Kenya, where he established a taxi business in Eastleigh and Parklands under the alias Hashim Mohamed Khalif.
The case continues, with the psychiatric evaluation expected to influence the course of the trial in January 2024.
