by Ananya Mehta

The cyber security cell of Haryana Police announced the arrest of three individuals accused of duping a Hisar resident out of Rs8.91 lakh in a cryptocurrency investment scam. The suspects have been identified as Sahil, Chirag, and Mohit.

The victim, Bajrang, was drawn into the scam through a Telegram channel that promised high returns on cryptocurrency investments. Once he expressed interest, the fraudsters, operating under the alias “CAPTAIN AMERICA,” guided him to transfer funds into fraudulent bank accounts. These accounts were obtained by an accomplice, Sahil, who was a bank employee and sold them to the fraudsters for Rs25,000 each.

Upon realizing he had been scammed, Bajrang reported the incident to the Cyber Helpline (1930). In response to the urgency of the situation, Haryana’s cyber chief, ADGP OP Singh, instructed the Cyber Nodal Thana to launch an immediate investigation.

The swift action taken by Haryana Police not only led to the arrests but also aims to prevent further scams of this nature in the region. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to uncover any additional accomplices or fraudulent activities linked to this case.
