Haridwar Police announced the arrest of the fourth suspect involved in the September 2024 robbery at Shri Balaji Jewellers. The suspect, identified as Aman Kamboj, was apprehended in Yamunanagar, Haryana. Authorities recovered Rs 13,500 and a mobile phone from Kamboj.
The robbery, which occurred on September 1st, saw armed criminals storming the showroom in broad daylight and stealing gold ornaments valued at Rs 4 crores. This shocking event raised concerns about the police’s effectiveness in handling such high-profile crimes. The incident also marked the second major robbery in the state within a year.
The Director General of Police (DGP) acknowledged the difficulty of the case and vowed a swift resolution. Following extensive investigations and searches across multiple states, police officers engaged in a shootout in Haridwar three days ago, which resulted in the death of one suspect and the arrest of two others.
Aman Kamboj, a resident of Pindi village in Firozpur, Punjab, was on the run since the robbery. The team, led by SSP Dobhal, Roorkee Kotwali in-charge Narendra Bisht, and Sub Inspector Ranjit Tomar, tracked Kamboj to his location in Haryana.
During the interrogation, Kamboj revealed he had received Rs 50,000 shortly after the heist and had used part of it to buy a mobile phone worth Rs 25,000. Police are continuing the hunt for another absconding suspect involved in the robbery.
