In a significant drug bust, the Ziro police arrested a habitual offender, Hano Doley, as part of Arunachal Pradesh’s ongoing Operation Dawn. The arrest took place in the early hours of October 18, after a tip-off indicated that Doley had arrived from North Lakhimpur, Assam.
The operation, spearheaded by SDPO O. Lego and under the supervision of SP Keni Bagra, involved a thorough search of Doley’s residence. Authorities uncovered 33 plastic vials containing suspected heroin, weighing a total of 48.3 grams, along with three mobile phones and two used syringes.
Doley has been charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Further investigation is ongoing, as police continue their efforts to dismantle the region’s drug trafficking networks.
Operation Dawn, launched by Arunachal Pradesh police, is a comprehensive initiative to curb the drug epidemic in the state. In addition to enforcement, the program includes awareness campaigns aimed at educating the youth and harm reduction strategies through collaboration with other agencies.
