Hamlet Woman Arrested for Drug Possession After Traffic Stop

A traffic stop in Aberdeen led to the arrest of 30-year-old Ladonna Broady, after police discovered ecstasy and marijuana in her vehicle. Aberdeen Police Chief Brian Chavis reported that Broady is currently being held at the Moore County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond for the drug-related charges.

The stop occurred on May 24 due to revoked tags and an outstanding warrant against Broady. Chief Chavis explained, “After Aberdeen Officers stopped Broady, she was detained and arrested for warrants and traffic violations. Upon further investigation, officers located marijuana and a large amount of ecstasy in her vehicle.”

Broady faces several serious charges, including:

  • Felony possession of a Schedule I controlled substance
  • Felony possession with intent to sell and deliver
  • Felony maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances
  • Possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance (marijuana)
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

Additionally, she was served a warrant from Richmond County for felony uttering a forged instrument, with a $5,000 secured bond set for that charge.

Defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
