Guwahati Police have intensified their efforts to combat theft and burglary, resulting in multiple arrests and the recovery of stolen goods across various city locations.
In a significant breakthrough, Fatashil Ambari Police Station arrested Bittu Bowal for stealing batteries from an ATM booth in Lalganesh. During his interrogation, Bowal confessed to selling the stolen batteries to scrap yards in Ulubari and Birubari. Following this lead, the police raided several scrap yards and arrested three individuals—Rafikul Ali, Altab Hussain, and Imran Hussain. The raid led to the recovery of 13 stolen batteries, including six ATM batteries, 11 new ceiling fans, 18 copper wire bundles, five water boring motors, and a Redmi laptop.
In another operation, Panbazar Police, acting on reliable intelligence, raided the area near the 2 No. Railway Gate and arrested two individuals—Mofidul Islam and Mir Mohammad Ali. Stolen mobile phones were recovered from them.
Further, Dispur Police arrested five individuals involved in theft activities in the Khanapara area. Based on a secret tip-off, the police seized a stolen battery and two wrenches. The arrested individuals were identified as Habel Ali (35), Zakir Hussain (18), Avtar Singh (30), Chandan Sharma (18), and Dipak Brahma (33).
