The Guwahati police carried out a series of raids, leading to multiple arrests and significant drug seizures in and around the city. These operations targeted various criminals involved in drug trafficking and related activities.
In one raid, the Paltan Bazar police arrested 23-year-old Jeherul Islam from Baghbor after recovering 25 grams of heroin, contained in 18 vials, from a hideout near the B Barooah Road flyover.
Meanwhile, the Panbazar police seized 24.57 grams of heroin hidden in two boxes near Rail Gate No. 3. The authorities arrested 29-year-old Pradeep Chetry from Hojai and confiscated a Scooty from his possession. Pradeep revealed that the heroin was sourced from the Hong Kong market with the help of two previously arrested individuals, Biswanath Sahani (alias Lambu) and Chandan Kumar.
In another operation, the Basistha police and Special Task Force (STF) personnel raided the Nalapara area, arresting two drug peddlers—Akash Swargiary, 25, from Gorchuk, and Robbert Basumatary, 25, from Paneri. Authorities seized 4.57 grams of cannabis and Rs5,800 in cash from the duo.
These arrests and seizures highlight the ongoing efforts of Guwahati police to combat the illegal drug trade in the region.
