Gursevak Singh Arrested for Murder in Shekhewal, Jalandhar

In a major breakthrough, the Jalandhar Rural Police arrested Gursevak Singh, a 23-year-old resident of Shekhewal, in connection with the murder of Inderjit Singh. The arrest was made within 24 hours of the crime, which occurred in village Shekhewal, under the jurisdiction of Shahkot Police Station.

SSP HPS Khakh shared that the arrest was part of a sustained crackdown against criminals involved in heinous crimes, following directives from DGP Gaurav Yadav. The operation was carried out under the supervision of SP, Investigation, Jasrup Kaur Bath, and DSP, Shahkot, Onkar Singh Brar.

The crime took place on the night of February 18, when Inderjit Singh went outside his house around 8:30 PM to close the outer gate. Gursevak Singh, also known as Sohal, attacked Inderjit with a cattle fodder cutter, repeatedly striking him. Despite the efforts of his family members to assist, Inderjit succumbed to his injuries shortly after the attack.

Inderjit’s wife, Kuljit Kaur, reported the incident to the police, and an investigation led to the swift arrest of Gursevak Singh on the evening of February 19. The murder case has been registered under Section 103 of the BNS at Shahkot Police Station.

The accused will be produced in a local court, where the police will seek his remand for further investigation. SSP Khakh assured that the investigation was ongoing to fully uncover the circumstances surrounding the crime.
