Guntur district police have arrested four individuals involved in a series of house burglaries, recovering stolen gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 14.65 lakh. The arrests were made by the Old Guntur and CCS police as part of an intensified crackdown on thefts.
During a press conference on Wednesday, Superintendent of Police (SP) Satish Kumar announced the arrests of Syed Nagur Basha from LR Colony, Lalapet, and Uppala Suresh from Swarna Bharat Nagar. Basha had seven prior cases, and Suresh had been involved in nine cases of theft. Both were arrested based on technical evidence. In addition to them, Bathula Gopinath and Uradi Janardhan were apprehended for receiving the stolen property.
The arrests followed an investigation into a complaint filed by Yeleswaram Bala Sudarshan Sharma, whose house in Old Guntur was burgled while he was away. The burglars stole gold, silver, Rs 35,000 in cash, and a wristwatch.
SP Kumar emphasized the police’s firm stance on taking strict action against burglars and those who buy stolen goods. He also urged residents to enhance their security by installing CCTV cameras and using the free Locked House Monitoring System (LHMS) provided by the police.
