In a significant breakthrough, the Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested a suspected human trafficker, Raju Mia, from the Belabar area in Agartala city on Friday. The arrest was part of an ongoing investigation into human trafficking, which led authorities to identify the suspect as being involved in facilitating illegal border crossings.
GRP Officer-in-Charge Tapas Das confirmed that the arrest was made following a joint operation conducted by the Tripura Police, Border Security Force (BSF), and the GRP. Raju Mia was apprehended for his alleged role in aiding illegal crossings at the Indo-Bangladesh border.
During the preliminary interrogation, Mia revealed the names of other individuals involved in the trafficking network. Following the operation, he was produced before the court for further legal proceedings.
This successful arrest highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat human trafficking and secure the country’s borders.
