Greek singer Christos Mastoras was arrested in Athens early Sunday morning after attempting to flee a routine police checkpoint. At around 2 a.m., police officers stopped Mastoras for an alcohol test in central Athens. However, reports indicate that the popular singer tried to drive off, ignoring an officer’s attempt to block his path.
After a brief pursuit, police units managed to stop Mastoras in the Omonia area, where he underwent the alcohol test, which revealed that his blood alcohol level exceeded the legal limit. He was immediately arrested and taken into custody.
Mastoras spent several hours in the police station before being brought to the Evelpidon courts for a fast-tracked legal process. In addition to charges of driving under the influence, reports also suggest he faces charges related to reckless driving due to his actions.
