In a significant operation, CIA staff, Jalandhar Rural, arrested a graduate-turned-drug peddler and seized 150 grams of heroin during a special drive aimed at curbing drug trafficking. The arrest was made near Talhan Gate, Parasrampur, based on actionable intelligence regarding drug movement in the region.
The accused, identified as Suraj Sharma of village Alachour, was reportedly working with a marriage band group while secretly running a drug distribution network. Despite his legitimate occupation, he had been involved in drug trafficking for some time.
SSP HPS Khakh revealed that the CIA staff had received reliable input regarding drug movement in Patara. A special team, led by SP (Investigation) Jasroop Kaur and DSP Sarwanjit Singh, was formed to investigate and intercept the suspect. The team apprehended Suraj 100 meters behind Talhan Sahib gate, where they discovered 150 grams of high-grade heroin concealed in a wax-sealed envelope.
A case has been filed under Sections 21B-61-85 of the NDPS Act at Patara Police Station. Suraj Sharma will be produced in court for police remand as investigations continue into his drug network and distribution links.
SSP Khakh assured the public that the police remain committed to eliminating the drug menace and urged citizens to actively participate by sharing information related to drug trafficking activities.
