Goalpara and Karimganj Police Seize Narcotics, Arrest Drug Peddlers

In a series of successful anti-drug operations, police in Assam have arrested drug peddlers and seized large quantities of narcotics.

On December 26, Goalpara police arrested Rafiqul Islam, a known drug supplier, during a search operation in Mornoi. Police seized 1,450 narcotic tablets and cash amounting to Rs 60,710 from his possession. This operation reflects the police’s commitment to curbing the region’s drug trafficking activities and sends a clear message to those involved in illegal drugs.

Meanwhile, in Karimganj, a significant drug haul took place when police intercepted a truck coming from a neighboring state in Hathikhira area. In this operation, authorities seized 1.5 lakh Yaba tablets, weighing over 16 kgs, with an estimated market value of Rs 45 crore. The arrested drug peddler has been taken into custody, and further investigations are underway.

Additionally, the Assam Police’s Special Task Force (STF), along with Cachar district police, seized 60,000 Yaba tablets and 125 grams of heroin in a late-night operation in Silchar last week.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to social media to commend the police for their continued efforts to fight the drug menace in the state, vowing to strengthen actions against drug trafficking.
