Ponda Police have arrested Shruti Prabhugaonkar, a 36-year-old woman from Porvorim, in connection with a major cash-for-job scam where she allegedly duped several individuals of Rs 1.5 crore. Prabhugaonkar’s arrest follows a lookout notice issued against her earlier, and authorities are now working to determine if she is the mastermind behind multiple similar scams in Goa.
The police are also investigating the woman’s potential links to a political party, which could have played a role in facilitating the fraudulent activities. Authorities are examining her involvement in the network of scams that have plagued the region, where unsuspecting victims were promised government jobs in exchange for large sums of money.
Meanwhile, the Ponda JMFC has extended the remand of another key accused, Dipashree Sawant, by four more days. Sawant is also facing charges for defrauding multiple individuals of crores of rupees by promising them government jobs in return for hefty bribes.
Both cases are part of a broader investigation into the growing issue of job-related scams in Goa, with authorities continuing to probe the extent of the fraud and the individuals involved in these operations.
