The Goa Police have successfully dismantled a fraudulent recruitment agency operated by two men from Karnataka. Nashir Ahamad Tigadi from Belagavi and Mohammad Haji from Vijapura were arrested following complaints from job seekers who had been promised lucrative employment abroad but instead found themselves trapped in scam call centers in Cambodia and Thailand.
Victims reported that the suspects ran a recruitment firm in Mumbai, offering enticing job placements with monthly salaries of Rs1 lakh. Superintendent of Police (Crime) Rahul Gupta stated that incriminating evidence was discovered on the accused’s mobile phones, aiding the investigation.
In light of the arrests, the police are advising families of individuals currently working in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam to reach out to their loved ones. Authorities are urging anyone involved in cybercrimes in these countries to return immediately, warning that failure to do so could result in legal action by the Goa Police.
The police emphasize the importance of caution when seeking job opportunities abroad, encouraging potential candidates to thoroughly vet recruitment agencies to avoid falling victim to scams.
