In a significant drug bust, the Goa Police arrested five individuals and seized narcotics worth Rs10 lakh in Mapusa, located just 9 km from the state capital. The arrested individuals included three men from Jharkhand—Chandankumar Sharma (22), Rohit Sharma (21), and Imtiyaj Ansari (21)—along with two locals, Vijay Volvoikar (25) and Parshuram Lamani (36).
The raid took place at the New Kadamba Transport Corporation bus stand parking lot, where the accused were found peddling a total of 10 kilograms of ganja. According to Goa police officials, the three men from Jharkhand had arrived in the town to deliver the drugs to the two local peddlers, Pradeep Volvoikar and Parshuram Lamani.
The authorities discovered that the drugs, worth Rs10 lakh, were being transported for distribution. The investigation is currently ongoing, with police continuing to probe the suspects’ connections and plans.
The operation was led by PSI Vishal Kuttikar under the supervision of PI Nikhil Palekar, SDPO Mapusa Shri Sandesh Chodankar, and the overall supervision of SP North Akshat Kaushal. A large team of police personnel was involved in the operation, including PSI Yeshwant Mandrekar, PSI Bablo Parab, and several others.
This operation is part of the ongoing efforts by the Goa Police to tackle drug trafficking in the state.
