Gerald Jay Morton, a 58-year-old man from Cherokee, was arrested on February 11 on multiple charges following O’Brien County warrants. He faces six counts of third-degree sexual abuse (a Class C felony), one count of incest (a Class D felony), and one count of continuous sexual abuse of a child (a Class B felony).
The charges stem from alleged incidents that occurred between 2002 and 2010 in Calumet, according to the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office. Criminal complaints filed in O’Brien County District Court claim that Morton had intercourse with a female against her will on six separate occasions between 2005 and 2008.
In addition, Morton is accused of performing sexual acts with his daughter between May 1, 2002, and December 1, 2010. He is also alleged to have committed three or more acts of sexual abuse with a child between January 1, 2002, and December 31, 2004.
Following his arrest, a no-contact order was issued against Morton with the female victim. Warrants for his arrest were issued the same day he was apprehended.
